Stick Pack Filling Machine

A stick pack filling machine is a specialised form-fill-seal machine that produces narrow, tube-shaped single-serve sachets called "stick packs." The machine forms a narrow tube from a roll of flat film, fills it with a small amount of powder (typically 1–30g), and seals the top and bottom. Stick packs are used for single-serve portions of sugar, coffee, protein powder, seasoning, pharmaceutical sachets, and condiment powders. The stick format (typically 25–35mm wide, 100–150mm tall) is compact, convenient and popular in food service and e-commerce.

Speed depends on the number of lanes and fill weight. A single-lane stick pack machine produces 80–200 sticks/min for 2–10g fills. A 4-lane machine produces 320–800 sticks/min total. A 10-lane high-speed machine achieves 800–2,000 sticks/min, equivalent to 48,000–120,000 sticks/hour — suitable for mass-market coffee, sugar or pharmaceutical sachets. The practical speed limit is the sealing dwell time (longer dwell = lower speed); fast-sealing films and servo drives enable maximum throughput.

Best-suited powders: free-flowing powders with consistent density — sugar, salt, instant coffee, protein powder, powdered milk, powdered seasoning, effervescent vitamin powder, pharmaceutical sachet powders (ORS, antacids, pain relief powders). Challenging powders: very hygroscopic powders (maltodextrin, powdered drink mixes) require humidity-controlled environments and rapid sealing; cohesive or oily powders may bridge in the narrow fill tube. For challenging powders, a vibration-assisted fill tube or heated fill section is available.

Compatible stick pack films: PE/PE laminate (basic barrier, low cost), PET/PE (improved barrier for moisture-sensitive products), foil/PE or foil/CPP (high barrier for pharmaceutical and hygroscopic products), BOPP/PE (transparent window packs for retail display), kraft paper/PE (sustainable packaging option). Film width per lane: 40–120mm depending on stick width. Most machines accept standard roll stock with 76mm or 152mm core.
